AW2004 was Takahiro Miyashita’s first collection to be part of Paris Fashion Week. The show featured politically charged anti-war sentiments, as seen in pieces such as the anti-bush tees. The seasons title itself “Give Peace a Chance” was borrowed from John Lennon’s ballad for peace. Miyashita’s main intention was to attempt to voice his opinion on the senseless war and acts of terror happening during that time. One of the main recurring themes within the collection was the use of the tribal hearts camo print, which was a play on the traditional camo uniform that the soldiers wore, Miyashita revisited the traditional camouflage pattern and incorporated hearts which aligned with the intention of the collection: to show peace and love rather than violence and hate.
20 years later, this hoodie remains as one of the staple pieces from the AW2004 collection, some of you may have seen the other iteration of this hoodie which does not feature a zipper. Some natural distressing is present throughout the hoodie as pictured.
